Our Mission:

Cultivating leadership & stewardship within our community to help preserve diversity, ensure food security, and grow a more resilient county & regional food system.

SEED Brown County strives to fulfill its mission by focusing on three activities:

  1. To establish and grow a seed library – a depository of seeds held in trust for the members of the lending library – available to all Brown County Residents;
  2. To provide information, instruction, and education about sustainable organic gardening through various events and workshops;
  3. To engage the community in facilitating round table discussions on formulating an action based plan (initiative) to arrive at more community needs from within the existing community structure of government, businesses, organizations, individuals and families.

Our mission is simple.
To plant seeds.

We have piloted a Seed Library Program in which to make more seeds & seed saving education available to our community.

We are starting conversations in our community with organizations who are interested in growing the idea that our residents need more access to healthful food. Please join us if you feel compelled to take action on learning how to build a food community.

Seeds are the vehicle in which we can take direct action on, so we have begun to sow our seeds.  Join us!

Please consider donating to SEED Brown County! If you would like to pledge seeds, time, or service – we can supply a receipt! We accept all donations and are a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization recognized in the State of Indiana. Your donation may be tax deductible.
